1. I’ll just add it to my cart of things to worry about for both of us.

Funny Responses to Don’t Worry About It

Most online shoppers know that a cart is where you place the items you would like to order and pay for one day. Well, for me, I place the list of things I worry about inside my mental cart.

I’ll pick one at a time and be anxious about it until it is resolved.

  • Hey, stop thinking about it. It’ll sort itself out.
  • Can’t help it. I’ll just add it to my cart of things to worry about for both of us.

2. Now that you said it, I have to worry about it.

If you’re like me, then whenever someone asks you to do something that you were going to do anyway, that is exactly when you don’t feel like doing it. So, if someone asks me to stop worrying, that is exactly when my anxiety level shoots up.

  • ‘Quit worrying.’
  • ‘Now that you said it, I have to worry about it.’

3. I can’t stop; I’ll just blame it on the butterflies in my stomach

There are situations in which I find myself and no matter how much I try, I can’t just seem to stop worrying, especially if it is something grave.

Thus, someone simply telling me to stop worrying won’t cut it out for me. Butterflies in a stomach may symbolize joy or nervousness, but for me, it symbolizes anxiety.

  • ‘Will you just stop worrying?’
  • ‘I can’t stop; I’ll just blame it on the butterflies in my stomach.’

4. I’ll just bury it alongside my other unresolved issues

If you have bad jitters like I do, it means you may not be able to stop worrying entirely, so you do the next best thing – bury them. For me, I buried them alongside many other things I worried about but weren’t resolved.

  • ‘What are you going to do about it?’
  • ‘I’ll just bury it alongside my other unresolved issues.’

5. If you pay me hourly to be a professional worrier, I’ll become a millionaire in a year.

The only disadvantage to being a worry mart is that it never solves anything. When I was younger, I’d think that if my parents gave me a dollar for every time that I was anxious,

I’d probably be a trust fund baby. Nevertheless, as an adult, I would prefer hourly pay, and in no time, I’ll become a millionaire.

  • ‘If you pay me hourly to be a professional worrier…’
  • ‘What will happen?’
  • ‘…I’ll become a millionaire in a year.’

6. I’m not promising anything, cause my brain is like a hamster on a wheel, it’s hard to stop the ride once it starts.

When someone who cares about you asks you to stop worrying, it is mainly because your anxiousness is making them restless too. Probably because of the emotional connection they have with you and that they care about you.

  • ‘I’m not promising anything…’
  • ‘Why?’
  • ‘…cause my brain is like a hamster on a wheel, it’s hard to stop the ride once it starts.’

7. Worrying is like sitting on a rocking chair, it doesn’t get me anywhere but it’s sure fun and soothing.

The beautiful thing about a rocking chair is that the motion is very relaxing, although it doesn’t get you anywhere. This makes it extremely similar to worrying, while it may appear soothing to worry, it doesn’t get you anywhere.

  • ‘Ever been on a rocking chair?’
  • ‘Yup’
  • ‘Okay, it’s similar to worrying; it doesn’t get me anywhere but it’s sure fun and soothing.’

8. If I get a headache from worrying, I’ll blame it on my imaginary friend

Most times, when we worry, we tend to talk to ourselves a lot. To other people, it may look as if we are talking to imaginary people and might look crazy.

If you’re anything like me, then it is probably true cause I have an imaginary friend I talk to when things get overwhelming.

  • ‘If I get a headache from worrying…’
  • ‘Yes?’
  • ‘…I’ll blame it on my imaginary friend.’

9. Why don’t you pretend to be a magician and make everything alright so that I don’t have to worry?

Some people have it within their power to deal with whatever is causing us to worry, but they will never offer to help. Instead, they will just stick to saying, ‘Don’t worry about it.’

This can be frustrating and when such persons tell you not to worry, it’s normal to lash out at them with this statement.

  • ‘Hey, don’t worry.’
  • ‘Well, why don’t you pretend to be a magician and make everything alright so that I don’t have to worry?’

10. I have a list of twenty other things to worry about, so this can wait.

There are times when people falsely assume that we are worrying about something that presumably went wrong, but in hindsight, they’re wrong because we have more important things that we are worried about.

  • ‘Don’t worry about that.’
  • ‘Lol. I have a list of twenty other things to worry about, so this can wait.’

11. Unless you’ll time travel and go back to fix it, I’ll just keep worrying.

Funny Responses to Don’t Worry About It

There are times we do something wrong, and we just worry about the consequences of our actions. It’s like breaking a glass of milk; not only is the milk spilled, but the glass is broken beyond repair. In situations like that, the only remedy would have been to avoid it right before it happened.

  • ‘Don’t worry.’
  • ‘Unless you’ll time travel and go back to fix it, I’ll just keep worrying.’

12. I need a fortune teller to tell me whether there will be a positive outcome

More than 60% of what we worry about is mostly related to the fact that we have no control over the future. This makes most people extremely conscious about the choices they make because they are worried that it may affect their future.

  • ‘It will be okay?’
  • ‘I need a fortune teller to tell me whether there will be a positive outcome’

13. Unless you will be my knight in shining armor and save the day somehow, just let me be.

One side effect of being in a worrisome state is that you will get irritable and short-tempered. This statement is used mainly by an irritable female who is probably speaking to a man.

  • ‘Hey, don’t you worry?’
  • ‘Unless you will be my knight in shining armor and save the day somehow, just let me be.’

14. You will have more success telling a fish not to swim than to ask me to stop worrying.

Most people have built a reputation on being such a worry mart. Their families and loved ones avoid telling them sensitive issues because they will overthink them.

That means that it is nearly impossible to tell such people not to worry.

  • ‘You will have more success telling a fish not to swim than to ask me to stop worrying.’
  • ‘I know, right?’

15. Can you write that on a sticky note and stick it into my brain? ‘Cause it just wouldn’t stop.

Sometimes when we enter into a bad situation, we begin to worry. But after some time, we realize that we are not getting anywhere worrying about that so we attempt to stop worrying but fail woefully. At that point, we will need external help to stop worrying.

  • ‘Can you just stop worrying?’
  • ‘Well, will you write that on a sticky note and stick it into my brain? ‘Cause it just won’t stop!’

16. If I stop worrying, where will I deposit this excess anxiety?

One annoying fact about worrying is that when we set the wheel rolling, it’s quite difficult to stop until the issue is resolved. If that is the shoe you are wearing right now, then this is the best reply for you.

  • ‘If I stop worrying, where will I deposit this excess anxiety?’
  • ‘In therapy.’

17. That’s the problem right there, I’m worried that I’m not worried enough about it.

Although rare, there are situations where something bad happens or is about to happen and instead of fretting about it, we remain exceedingly calm about the situation. Religious people will call it – peace that passes all understanding.

  • ‘That’s the problem right there…’
  • ‘What is?’
  • ‘…I’m worrying that I’m not worried enough about it.’

18. You have to speak louder! I can’t hear you over the sound of my worry!

This reply is outright hilarious, cause what in the name of ocean waves can’t you hear? Well, if you’ve ever been to a club or to the beach side (when the waves are strong), you will realize that you will not be able to hear above the sound.

  • ‘Hey, don’t worry’
  • ‘You have to speak louder! I can’t hear you over the sound of my worry!’

19. Nah, I’m the perfect example of calm and collected…except for the occasional internal panic attack.

If you intend to be sarcastic then this is the right response to use. It indicates that even though you appear physically okay, you are like a roaring storm inside.

  • ‘Nah, I’m the perfect example of calm and collected…’
  • ‘Good.’
  • ‘…except for the occasional internal panic attack.’

20. I’ll try, but if you see me talking to the air and gesticulating wildly, then know that I’m off the threshold and into the black sea of worry.

Funny Responses to Don’t Worry About It

Remember when I said that some of us speak to imaginary friends when we are worried? Well, this is the highest level of that. Some go past the stage of merely speaking to themselves and start acting it out.

  • ‘I’ll try, but if you see me talking to the air and gesticulating wildly…’
  • ‘What should I do?’
  • ‘…then know that I’m off the threshold and into the black sea of worry.’
